Delbert grew up on a dairy farm southeast of Doland along with his 6 brothers. After graduating from Doland High School, he worked on a farm in the Turton area. He and his wife, Lori, were married in 1984 and lived west of Turton. They have three children: Tyler, Grant, and Alexandra.
